When did it suddenly become cool to hate everything? It's a growing problem, especially in the entertainment world, and no one benefits from an increasingly hard to please, pessimistic audience.

Cupid and Psyche from Greek Mythology.... This is one of my favorite myths.... here's the story. It looks really long but it's such a great story 8D please read it Cupid and Psyche There once was a king that had three daughters and the youngest daughters name was Psyche. Psyche was the most beautiful mortal there ever was and many men from around the world came to see her. Now, Aphrodite was upset by all of this commotion over the beautiful Psyche. She was extremely jealous because she was the goddess of beauty after all. She felt that she was the most beautiful being there was. So she plotted to get rid of Psyche. Aphrodite sent her son, Cupid, to hit Psyche with one of his arrows to make her fall in love with the ugliest man. Cupid did as he was told and went down to earth to shoot Psyche. Cupid made himself invisible and came upon the sleeping Psyche. He fitted his arrow into his bow and aimed it at Psyche, suddenly Psyche awoke, which surprised Cupid. Cupid was so confused that, instead of piercing Psyche with his arrow he wounded himself. In an instant he fell in love with Psyche. In a state of shock Cupid ran away without carrying out his mothers wish. When Aphrodite found out that Cupid had not followed out his orders, she made sure that no man would ever marry Psyche, thinking that this would make her life miserable. So time passed and Psyches sisters left home and married some wealthy kings. Psyche grew lonely and out of pity for her, her mother and father talked with an oracle. The oracle had told them that Psyche would not marry any mere mortal but a monster. That monster was waiting for Psyche on top of a high mountain. Since she was so distraught and lonely, Psyche didnt care what happened to her so she went to the top of the mountain awaiting her fate. Psyche stood there thinking that something terrible would happen but instead a warm wind blew around her. It was Zephyrus, the gentle West wind that Cupid had sent to bring her to his palace. Zephyrus comforted Psyche and slowly lifted her up and carried her away to a green valley. Psyche was so stressed and confused that she fell asleep right away. When she woke up she saw that she was in a palace courtyard. A voice spoke to her and told her that there was a room where she could rest and take a bath, and when she was hungry she could eat. Psyche did what the voice said and after taking a bath, resting, and eating it was night time. When it grew dark, Psyche heard a faint fluttering of wings and footsteps. It was so dark that she couldnt see but she was able to tell that the person that just came into her room was her husband. He stayed with her all night talking to her. He spoke so sweetly to her that she couldnt help but fall in love with him. Cupid came to visit psyche every night but told her not to light any lamps. He did not want her to see him because he thought that she would be afraid of him, and that she would love him as a god instead of her equal. Psyche understood and was sure that she loved her husband. As time passed Psyche missed her sisters and wanted to let them know that she was alright. Psyche asked her husband if she could see them and reluctantly Cupid let her sisters visit her. During their visit Psyches sisters asked her about her husband. She tried to avoid telling her sisters that she had never actually seen her husband, but eventually their questioning got the better of her and she told them. Her sisters warned her that she should not be deceived. They told her to take a sharp knife and a lamp, and when her husband was asleep she should light the lamp and look at him. If he was really a monster she should kill him. That night Psyches curiosity got the better of her and did as her sisters suggested. When she saw Cupid for the first time she was transfixed and forgot about everything but her love for Cupid. With the lamp in one hand she slowly leaned over him. Her hand trembled and a small drop of oil landed on Cupid. He awoke with a start to see Psyche and her lamp. Ashamed and afraid Cupid took off and left Psyche alone once more. Psyche tried to follow him, searching day and night but she could not find him. Finally she ended up going to Aphrodites temple to make peace with her. Aphrodite was still very angry with Psyche and she told her that the only way she would ever get Cupid back was to prove that she was worthy of being a housewife. The first task for Psyche was to separate a pile of mixed grains into individual piles. Each pile had to have been made up of only one type of grain. The huge pile of mixed grains must have been separated within one day. Aphrodite left Psyche alone to do her work. Psyche looked at the large pile of grains and knew that it was impossible to have it all finished within a day. As she sat there thinking what to do a tiny and came and started separating the grains. Soon enough a whole colony of ants was helping Psyche sort out the grains. The next day Aphrodite saw that Psyche was finished and was enraged that Psyche had finished. Aphrodite gave a few more tasks to Psyche such as collecting some wool from the man eating sheep and getting some water from the River Styx. Psyche eventually completed these tasks. Finally Aphrodite told Psyche to go down into the underworld with an empty box and convince Charon to let her cross the river Styx to see Queen Persephone. There Persephone would fill the box with a goddesses beauty. She was to bring the box back to Aphrodite and then she could finally see Cupid again. Psyche eventually did what she was told and got the box filled with a goddesses beauty and came back from the underworld. Once again Psyche was curious to see what was in the box, so she lifted up the lid to take a tiny peak. The goddesses beauty was not at all what she expected. To Persephone, Queen of the Dead, beauty was death itself. Just as soon as Psyche opened the lid she died. Luckily, Cupid witnessed all of this and quickly flew to her side. He leaned down over her and kissed her. Cupids kiss overcame the death and Psyche soon was awake and well again. This time Cupid took Psyche to Mount Olympus and brought her in front of Zeus. He told him what happened and begged Zeus to let them be together. Zeus was moved by their love and prevailed on Aphrodite and allowed Cupid and Psyche to be united. So Psyche was given ambrosia and nectar to eat. This allowed her to become immortal so she could be with Cupid forever. Eventually, Aphrodite and Psyche put their differences aside and became friends. I sorta based Cupid off of Pit (can't you tell XD) and I based Psyche off of my friend Rebbie's OC.
